In May 2008, my family went camping at Carnac in Brittany. The campsite was very good, but the best part for me was that it was smack bang in the middle of the Carnac megaliths.

The area is home to over 4000 stones range in size from a couple of feet tall to 6.5 metres. Many of them are in rows of hundreds, although there doesn't appear to be any known reason for the alignments, and many of them have been moved over the years since they were originally placed between 4000 to 7000 years ago.

The whole region is covered with arrangements of stones, large standing stones (menhirs), tombs and tumuli. The Kercado Tumulus is very close the to Kermario alignments, but is hidden at the end of what first looks like a private driveway. However, there is also a very good Indian restaurant right next to the tumulus.
